Natnael is an incoming student at Tufts University, was born in Dessie, Ethiopia, and attended high school at Haile Manas Academy. He's an alum of the Pioneer Academics Global Problem Solving Institute (UNC Chapel Hill) and the Yale Young African Scholars program, held by Yale University. Working with students and starting the day with buna brewed the Ethiopian way are two of his favorite things. Coming from a low-income background, Natnael is especially passionate about creating opportunities for students with similar experiences. At Temari Abroad, he serves as Chief Strategy Officer, working with mentors to design effective support systems, strengthen mentor-mentee connections, and oversee how guidance is delivered.
Ethiopian students at top universities around the world who we’re proud to have as mentors, dedicated to uplifting and supporting fellow Ethiopians in their academic journeys.
Coming from a public middle school, I used to think studying abroad and winning scholarships were out of reach. That changed when I joined a boarding high school and received college counseling support, which showed me what’s possible with the right guidance. Now, I want to help other students like me aim higher and take advantage of opportunities they might not have imagined before.
I want to mentor with ተማሪ Abroad because I know how confusing and overwhelming the college application process can be, especially without someone to guide you. I’ve been through it myself, and I’d love to share what I’ve learned and support students in Ethiopia so they feel less alone and more confident in reaching their goals.
My name is Adoniyas Tesfaye Wujira. I was born and raised in Addis Ababa, where I attended Lideta Catholic Cathedral School. From there, I made my way to the African Leadership Academy, which opened new doors and challenged me to grow. With the support of counselors and peers, I was able to navigate the college application process and earn a spot at the University of Chicago. The journey wasn’t easy, and that’s exactly why I want to support students who don’t have access to the same kind of guidance. I know what it feels like to start from limited resources, and now I want to help others reach their potential too.
I want to help students because I have walked in their shoes. Having successfully navigated the process to get into the top liberal arts college, Williams, with an SAT of 1520, I believe my firsthand experience and the ups and downs I encountered can genuinely benefit others. My involvement in programs such as the Yale Young African Scholars (YYAS), EducationUSA scholars program(ESP) of US embassy, AddisCoder, and many more, has equipped me with the methods to guide students effectively.
I’m the type of person who will redo something ten times until it’s perfect—whether it’s a project or a design—because I believe details matter. As a mentor and “Gojo Captain,” I loved guiding others, helping them grow, and proving that teamwork can turn even the toughest challenges into success. Now, I’m ready to take that same passion for creativity and leadership abroad.I want to be a mentor because applying to college was confusing and stressful for me, and I don’t want other Ethiopian students to feel that way. I learned a lot along the way—things no one told me but that made a big difference. Now, I want to share those tips so students don’t have to search for hours online like I did. If I can help even one person feel more confident and save time, it’ll be worth it.
Just a dude who is passionate about Computers and tech
My name is Hundaol Begna, and I come from a small town called Gedo in West Showa, Oromia, Ethiopia. I attended my elementary education in Gedo up to Grade 8, where I achieved the highest score in the regional examination, which led me to join Ambo University Special Secondary School. At Ambo, I had the honor of becoming the school’s first student president, leading over 300 students and supervising more than 12 clubs, many of which I personally founded, including environmental, volunteering, and science clubs. I also led the Science Club and regularly gave lectures to its 130+ members, fostering a culture of academic enthusiasm. Over the years, I’ve received more than 16 certificates from various competitions, hackathons, festivals, online courses, academic achievements, and summer programs. I’m joining Temari Abroad as a mentor because I don’t want other students to make the same mistakes I did during the college application process. I want them to know that getting accepted into top global universities is not a distant dream but an achievable goal with the right guidance and mindset. I’m here to offer that support and show them that it is not only possible but simpler than they think when you have someone who believes in your potential.
hello! my name is leah! i’m going to KU Leuven next year. I love watching 90’s and 2000’s movies. I enjoy playing card games( especially if money is involved.) I was a students once with no guidance, figuring out what was good for me on my own. I didn’t have help when I needed it the most. I want to be the guiding light for these students, helping them in their goal of a greater future.
I think it's a truth not said enough that 'talent is everywhere but opportunity is not'. I studied in a public secondary school , getting stellar grades for all the four years. But I would have ended up going to the same school, and limit my dreams, if it weren't a close friend telling me about UWC. Even after me showing interest to applying to international schools, many people seemed to be busy to assist me with applying, but he always showed up when he could. I later secured this golden opportunity that had opened more opportunities to me. Traveled abroad for yygs, visited CERN- the largest lab on particle physics, and secured a spot at one of the top school in US for university. I know there more talents out there, those even bigger than mine waiting to unleash their potential. And there's no better way for me to pay back , to that friend of mine, than assisting these new talents to finding a door to greater opportunities.
I remember how daunting the application process was! I personally didn't get help from others when I applied, but I understand how helpful it can be to receive support from admitted students. It makes the application journey simpler! So, I want to spend time helping other Ethiopian students through the application process, and I got information about ተማሪ Abroad! To be honest, I was looking forward to joining a group whose aim is to help other Ethiopian students with the application process. Being able to mentor students online makes it more special. So l want to share my experiences regarding the college application, candidate weekend interviews, and exam tips.
I am Nuhamin Yitbarek, a student from Hawassa, Ethiopia, passionate about making my parents proud. I enjoy leading and managing events, which has allowed me to develop strong organizational skills. I attended Haile Manas Academy for high school and participated in the HKU for the talented Program at the Hong Kong University and done research on stereotype in Ethiopia at Pioneer Research Institute. I am excited to start my studies at Smith College, where I am going to meet people from different side of the world. I am also excited to start my jounery at Temari Abroad where I hope to help students in Ethiopia and meet peers from different parts of the world. I want to help Ethiopian students sort through their options and figure out their future college lives in various countries. I understand how challenging it can be, as I know what it feels like to be in their position. My aim is to support them so they don’t have to struggle through this process.
My name is Sifene, and I’ve attended Auxilium Catholic School for my entire life. This year, I’ll be joining the Honors Program at Meredith College, majoring in Human Nutrition and minoring in Entrepreneurship. In 2024/25, I was honored to be Ethiopia’s national top scorer on the University Entrance Exam, earning 575 out of 600. The first time I applied to colleges, I didn’t have anyone to guide me. I navigated the process alone, confused, overwhelmed, and unsure of what really made a strong application. As a result, I was waitlisted at several schools despite my efforts. But the next year was different. I had the support of an incredible mentor who helped me refine my essays, sharpen my strategy, and approach the process with clarity. That guidance made all the difference, and it helped me earn a full scholarship to a university I’m proud to attend. Now, I’ve joined Temari Abroad because I want to be that mentor for someone else. I know firsthand how powerful it is to have someone in your corner, and I’m here to support students so they never have to face this journey alone.
I'm from a small town called Dessie and started my academic journey at a local school before earning a place at a competetitive boarding school(Haile Manas Academy). Now, I'm preparing to take another big step - studying abraod and chasing opportunities I once only dreamed about. I hope my journey shows others that big dreams can start in the smallest places. At Temari Abroad, I want to mentor students through the college application process because I know how overwhelming and confusing it can be like especially without the right guidance. I’ve been through it myself, and having someone to talk to, ask questions, and get honest advice from made a huge difference for me. I want to be that kind of support for students who are just starting their journey. Whether it's brainstorming essays, choosing schools, or just figuring out where to begin, I’m excited to share what I’ve learned and help others feel more confident and less alone in the process.
I’d like to share my experiences with students interested in studying abroad. I spent a few years studying in Europe and am currently pursuing my studies in Asia.
I want to share my experience
I believe in the power of education. Ethiopia's universities cannot compare to universities abroad. When I applied to universities abroad, my aim was to get quality education. And, I want the same thing for my fellow countrymen. If we all help each other attain great opportunities, we will have a better chance of improving our country's education system and the lives of others.
We're always looking for passionate individuals who want to make a difference in education. Together, we can bridge the gap and create opportunities for students worldwide.
